Sorry and all that, but I have to admit I laughed at bandito's comment. This forum is more like the Wild West than the kinder, gentler East Coast salons of the 'other place'. You have to accept that the saddlebums are going to come gunning for you now and then and not be too prissy about shooting back. Adopting an aggrieved air and a disappointed frown won't cut it.

And just by the way, as a simple experiment will confirm, 11,111 hits does not equate to 11,111 views. Simply clicking the link or reloading the page registers a hit. It's no doubt the reason why Music Suck's utterly execrable UJB 'movie' has exceeded 72,000 hits.

Actually I think this site is not Wild West, it is often more just plain Eastern Seaboard obnoxious, rude and juvenile. I live in the West, western side of Northern Rockies. Too much jabbering and name calling by many here to be westerners. But you all sure know lots about the Grateful Dead.

Uh, it's just metaphor, Hal. Not casting aspersions on your actual geographical location in any way.

Don't forget to close the pod bay doors.

The cowboy movie version of the west. I got the metaphor.
Just had to go hey, wait a minute. Close the bay pod doors, LOL, that one is going to follow me to my grave, the new joke to everyone that meets me and 42 year old one for me.

Knew within a millisecond of hitting send that I was in lame coverband retread territory with the pod bay thing. I promise to try harder in future.

:)

Yeah, I wondered about that. When I do that, though, I don't get a one-to-one correlation between reloads and a single other hit. Anyway, I'm assuming it's had quite a number of views (what with being seriously funny, after all), but that the site doesn't count individual IP addresses (which I think YouTube does), so there's no way to know how many people have viewed it.

I didn't bother with that other video, but ... really? 72,000 views? You mean someone actually sat at their computer and clicked their own thing maybe 71,995 times? Now, that's serious commitment.

I happened to watch it for kicks. At least he picked some grate shows, and now we know his prefs.

Well it certainly shows a serious commitment to repetitive hand actions ...

Hah! You passed the Rob Test! Yes, this is certifiably the real Rob, and clearly not just someone using your name ...

Hey Rose--if you were serious about that, and around here one could be (ie, real Rob or immitation Rob? er--what a bizarre thought now that I think of it), you can always click on his "handle" to the right on the "big board" and all his posts will come up...if it doesn't show back to 06, then it's not "real Rob" (but the trick to do that would be difficult with his handle anyhow).

If you were just joking, uh...nevermind!

Well, I do live in a place where they sell Clavin Klain pants, there's a grungy hole-in-the-wall restaurant around here called KFC (small letters: Kwality Food Cafe, which I doubt), and yesterday at the market stalls by my street I spotted a pair of running shoes with a swoosh and the label "Ake." Ake shoes. I want a pair.

So ... gotta be careful ... his handle could be a knockoff, and who'd know? Except, of course, by a certain quality to the writing.

That's the other way you can tell, Tell!

[Isn't it INconSEEvaBULL someone would want to imitate me? They'd never get the abbr's right, don't-cha tink?]

Ah, the board seems almost "normal" today...and I just like to think it has something to do with you, Mr Editor!

Thank you, Mr Tell.

I'm kind of using this place as therapy - hope that's ok with everyone!

Hey, it's all I do here...my posts do read like stream of (un)consciousness, eh? Just picture me on a couch, pouring it all out: "yes...my brothers gave me the DEAD's first album, and then told me they weren't any good. I've never gotten over it; then, there was this girl in 8th grade, and..."

Well, maybe.
